A wall or room without windows is a prison, a space without any hope, an enclosure without any sense of past, present, future; a cell without any promise of freedom, growth or happiness. But add windows to a room, and what do you have? A room with a purpose, a space with hope and perspective and outreach; an enclosure full of life and energy and movement; a place for imagination to flourish and fill the window with a dream, a vision, a challenge or a life change.

Painting on old window frames has taught me that God does not create throw-away things. There is always an opportunity to recognize, reframe and restore our perspectives. Sometimes it just takes a bit of daring, the courage of heart, to look at our hardships a bit differently, to shift an attitude toward a person or problem, or even to offer ourselves more unconditional love.
